Business of Art Workshop – Part 2

Continuing our program of bringing resources to local artists and artisans, we have arranged for accountant David Darnell of Darnell and Company to present a workshop designed to guide artists through the sometimes daunting but essential area of financial recordkeeping and tax preparation.

Darnell advises and provides accounting services to business in the Eastern Panhandle.

The Business of Art – Part 2” will be presented Monday, May 24 from 6 to 9 pm in the Martinsburg Room of the downtown library (entrance from Queen Street on the lower level).

Knowing how to organize your financial information makes the difference between a long, painful process of filing tax returns and other essential reports—and being able to travel smoothly and confidently through the tax jungle. Early in the year is a good time to look at recent transactions and to learn how they influence your overall financial picture. While this workshop won’t do your taxes for you, it will help you understand which forms you may be required to complete and when they have to be filed.

Deadline for registration is May 21, 2010. Download a form or call Paula Frank, 304-267-2052. Workshop fee is $10 for nonmembers, free to Arts Council members. You can join on the website before registering. Mail form and payment to Berkeley Arts Council, PO Box 984, Martinsburg, WV 25402.

“Snowbird Special” – see the form for a bonus if you registered but missed our January workshop.

The next workshop for artists, about photographing artwork for web or print, is planned for late June.
