Helping us bring arts to the forefront, we hope this article in the Journal will elicit some ideas that will show how state grant money can advance arts activity and opportunity in our community. Think creatively: How can we support new arts programming by schools or community groups or help individuals reach new audiences within Berkeley County?

I think it would be great if we could have a juried sidewalk art contest. I have seen this done in NY and it can reach to all ages. I have seen some incredible young artists participate. At the same time you can have an outdoor closed street art fair where local artists can sell their work, this too can be a juried show. Thousands of people would come for this event with the right media coverage.

Thank you for your ideas.
What we are seeking are ideas we would be able to provide funding for.
We will be applying for grants from a number of sources to use to support arts projects in Berkeley County.
If you are interested in proposing a project, please to our the “Amplify the Arts” Web page and read the guidelines and information about how to submit your ideas.
We have extended the deadline to February 7.
