The Berkeley Art Works will open its doors at 116 North Queen Street in Martinsburg for the first time tomorrow at 12:00. A project of the Berkeley Arts Council, “The Works” will feature an artists’s co-op, exhibits, art classes and workshops, and other special events. The Art Works first workshop offering will be a pair of Beginning Acrylics Painting Samplers this Saturday, July 13. From 9am-Noon; Beginning Acrylics Painting Sampler for High School Students Ages 13-18 yrs and from 1pm-4pm; Beginning Acrylics Painting Sampler for Adults Ages 18yrs and up. The Berkeley Art Works, a service of the Berkeley Arts Council, is the realization of the long-held dream of the arts community in Martinsburg and Berkeley County West Virginia: to have a community-based arts facility that supports local and regional artists, brings quality arts experiences for the members of the public, and provides a wide range of arts learning experiences for local residents, artists, and artisans.

The Berkeley Arts Council Summer Class Schedule

The Berkeley Arts Council will offer summer art classes for all ages running July 16 through August 8, 2013. Classes will be held at the Berkeley Art Works, 116 North Queen Street in Martinsburg.

Tuesday classes offer beginning/ intermediate watercolor, beginning/  intermediate oil painting and “Art Academy”, a program for young people 12-15 years of age.

Wednesday classes cover “Green Sculpture,” Beginning Acrylics and Composition, and Mixed Media and Experiments in Painting.

Thursday classes include “Mud Club,” clay play for 6 years of age and up,;“Junior Potter’s Club” (Clay Techniques for Middle School Students); and an Adult Pottery Class.

The Berkeley Arts Council announces two acrylic painting workshops with artist Jean Kellogg on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the new Berkeley Art Works, 116 North Queen Street in Martinsburg.

From 9 am to Noon, the session is Beginning Acrylics Painting Sampler for high school students and from 1-4 pm, Beginning Acrylics Painting Sampler for adults. Fee for each three-hour workshop is $45.
