A work of art has a plan—its design. The artist creates visual order using the elements of design, the ingredients, to hold interest and express the artist’s purpose. A composition organizes the elements according to the principles of design. Instructor Judith Becker explains and clarifies these tools of the artist in a twelve-hour course that helps guide the student in using color, texture, shape and form; value and color harmonies. Included are principles of balance, unity, contrast, emphasis, and rhythm, and more. Artists working in any medium will learn to create stronger works using the understandings presented in this class. Tuition $85; Pre-registration required
