Holiday Market items that will be for sale at the Art Works
Berkeley Arts Council Invitation to St. Nick’s Market
The BAC is holding its annual St. Nick’s Market this year at the Berkeley Art Works gallery from November 15 through December 24, 2023. Showcasing your handmade arts and crafts in the market will help make this year’s event the best ever. Will you join us in this effort? Drop an email to Marilyn Schoon (firstname.lastname@example.org) within the next few weeks to indicate that you’d like to participate. We hope to have a good sense of the gallery’s market layout by October 1. In your email, please include your full name, business name if applicable, best contact information, as well as a brief description of what you hope to bring. A few examples are paintings, ceramics, jewelry, cards, and home goods.
If you respond “yes,” we will send you a consignment form as well as an inventory form. You’ll deliver your goods and inventory form to the gallery in November. We’ll do all the set-up and display. (See more detailed information below.)
No space fee is charged to BAC members.
Do you know others who might like to participate? Please pass on Marilyn’s email address or send them to the BAC website (https://berkeleyartswv.org/join-us/). Artists and craftspeople who are not currently members will be asked to join the BAC. The membership dues will not only give them a spot at this year’s market but will also cover membership in the BAC through 2024.
Thanks in advance. If you have specific questions, please do not hesitate to send Marilyn a note by email. We’re looking forward to a wonderful opportunity to share your talents with the Berkeley County community.
All the best,
Marilyn Schoon – email@example.com
P.S. Last year we didn’t have anything geared for children. So if you have special skills in that area, we’d love to be able to offer a variety of items for the younger set.
Here are some additional specific details.
St. Nick’s Market
11/15/2023 through 12/24/2023
Your items will be interspersed among all participants’ works throughout the gallery at 116 N. Queen St., Martinsburg, WV 25401.
We will follow up on your expression of interest in participating in the market by sending you a consignment agreement and inventory form. We may call you for more details.
In mid- to late-October you’ll be asked to confirm in email to Marilyn Schoon – firstname.lastname@example.org specifically what and how many items you anticipate bringing, e.g., two 12″ x 12” watercolor paintings; 10 medium ceramic bowls; 30 pairs of earrings; 25 cards for all occasions; a 24″ lamp; children’s playthings—wooden blocks; wearables, such as 10 knitted hats, 2 knitted child’s bibs, and 1 knitted blanket. Participants may bring up to 30 pieces per artist, and we will contact you when your product needs to be replenished. If you can only participate with a smaller amount, that too can be accommodated.
BAC will create a 3-letter code for each artist, and the artist will attach identifying information to each piece, including the 3-letter code, price of work, title, and/or other identifying information for the piece. Participants will also be asked to bring an inventory sheet with each item listed separately when they deliver their goods.
Wall art must be framed and ready to hang. 3D works will be placed on appropriate shelving, tables, or pedestals, given space available. Standing sculpture will be accommodated pending space available.
Cost to BAC members: none
The Council reserves 30% of the sale price of all items to offset overall costs. Berkeley Arts Council collects and pays all sales taxes and absorbs all credit card fees.
