16th Annual Art & Earth Juried Exhibit

On view April 16 - June 14, 2026

The Berkeley Arts Council has been holding the annual Art & Earth juried exhibit for 16 years. The show has the theme Art and Earth: My Art - My World. Entries reflect the artist’s view of nature or the environment, or reflect an Earth Day related theme.

Over the years, Berkeley Arts Council has had the opportunity to bring an incredible array of artworks and interpretations to the community.

Juror’s Note

This year’s show was juried by Tim Doud, Professor and Director of the MFA Program in Studio Art at American University in Washington, DC.

“The 16th annual Art and Earth exhibition drew interest from many artists deeply committed to the landscape. At a moment of renewed ecological attention - shaped by climate awareness, environmental precarity, and a growing recognition of the earth as a living system - this response feels especially vital.”

“What united the artists who responded to the open call was the earnestness of both the endeavor and the work itself. The exhibition brought together amateur and seasoned artists alike, yet across this range there was a shared spirit of seriousness, care, and attentiveness.”

“Again and again, the work suggested artists making from love: love of process, love of place, and love of the landscape not only as beauty, but as a complex, living system to which we belong.”
